SEVERNA PARK, located in the central area of Anne Arundel County, shares much of the county’s 447 miles of shoreline, furnishing waterfront living to many residential communities. The waters of the Chesapeake Bay, Severn River and Magothy River offer not only a bountiful supply of seafood but also a beautiful setting for sailing, fishing, crabbing and waterfowl hunting.
Bounded by the Severn and Magothy Rivers, Severna Park is a proud, well established community where many tree-lined neighborhoods contain a variety of home styles with attractive well-maintained landscaping.
Regional village centers, with thriving local businesses, offer residents close-to-home shopping. One of the attractions to this area is the pleasure of shopping in Severna Park. Antique lovers can browse through charming and elegant shops where a treasure of collectibles abound.
Winding through the area is the scenic B&A Trail, entering Severna Park at Earleigh Heights Road where the Park Ranger Station is located. This building, formerly a renovated grocery store built near 1890, now houses the park information center and public restrooms. As the trail winds through Severna Park it is dotted with flower beds and wildflower plantings maintained by local merchants and families. This trail is associated with the Rails to Trails Conservancy, a national organization that advocates transforming abandoned railroad right of ways into public trails. The old restored Severna Park Railroad Station where the Severna Park Railroad Club meets each week stands as a reminder of the trail’s history. Nearby is historic Hatton-Regester Green which, through the dedicated efforts of the Friends of the B&A Trail, has been converted from a grassing lawn to a beautiful collection of gardens with an old-fashioned gazebo designed to hold concerts and exhibitions. The Hatton-Regester Green serves not only as a lovely rest stop along the trail, but as a shining example of cooperation between individuals, community groups, and county agencies, and hundreds of volunteers who worked countless hours to provide the park for the enjoyment of approximately 2 million visitors who ride, walk, jog and roll along the path each year. It is on historic Hatton-Regester Green that the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce building (circa 1920s) is located.

There is great diversity in the area. Quality of education is found not only in public schools, but numerous independent schools in the Greater Severna Park area offer programs ranging from early childhood education through college preparatory courses.

With over 2300 homes, 4 beaches, a boat launching area, 2
marinas, and a club house, there is always something to do. Close to
shopping, and route 50 makes “The Cape”one of the more popular
Annapolis water privileged communities. The $10 per YEAR HOA fee
is the lowest for the amenities in Annapolis.
Originally designed to be a community of summer cottages, Cape St. Claire is now home to approximately 7,878 year-round residents living in more than 2,200 single-family homes. Homes come in all shapes and sizes (from ranchers to split levels, colonials and contemporaries, all types of homes are found in the Cape), and the diversity of houses has long been a goal for the community.
Cape St. Claire is bound on three sides by water: the Little Magothy River, the Chesapeake Bay, the Magothy River, and Deep Creek. With all that water around, you’d expect a community with many ways to take advantage of it, and Cape St. Claire doesn’t disappoint. There are three marinas (with a combined total of over 200 boat slips), a boat ramp, several beaches, and a couple of water parks with playground equipment for the kids.
Cape St. Claire is very much like a small town. The community has a shopping center, a volunteer fire department, ball fields, and a swimming pool. The Cape also boasts of many community organizations including a garden club, yacht club, Boy and Girl Scout troops, and a recreation council. Cape St. Claire is also served by its own monthly newsletter, The Caper. The Cape St. Claire Elementary School and Broadneck High School are also located within Cape St. Claire.

The 5th Avenue of Annapolis. Location, location, location. An outdoorsman’s paradise, Bay Ridge has literally miles of community beach with some of the best views of the Bay Bridge and Annapolis. A community pool, marina and club house are just some of the outstanding attributes to this wonderful community. I personally have been to at least 20 private parties by several of my friends, and let me tell you, they were great! Bon fires on the beach are a nightly occurance as is fishing, crabbing, boating, and walking your pedigree pooch! But…take care…if you want to live in this community come with your fat checkbook. Non waterfronts can start in the mid 500’s and add insult to injury, You just might have to bring your hammer for those. Waterfronts in this neighborhood can go as high as 6 million! So, hit the lottery and call me in the morning. Ahh…I think I will have a Margarita please!
Bay Ridge is just outside of Annapolis, Maryland, on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay in the “land of pleasant living.”
We invite you to read about Bay Ridge, the Bay Ridge Civic Association and the community land and woods that are so integral to the area.
This article from the Capital newspaper explains the recent community land acquisition.
Enjoy a brief photo tour and a selection of Bay Ridge history from Jane McWilliams’ and Carol Patterson’s book, “Bay Ridge on the Chesapeake.”We have also provided a link to this map of Bay Ridge.
We hope you enjoy your visit.
